Contemporary ryokan on Ikuchijima in the Seto Inland Sea, opened 1 March 2021 by Adrian Zecha’s Azumi brand inside a restored Horiuchi merchant estate. Kyoto architect Shiro Miura designed 22 guest rooms with hinoki baths and private gardens or balconies; across the street, yubune adds a public bathhouse with further compact rooms open to hotel guests and island residents. The property sits on the Shimanami Kaido lemon-farming corridor, so plan cycling, citrus visits or ferry logistics into the stay rather than treating it as a pure Kyoto substitute.
