Editorial Review

Every article is edited for accuracy, tone, and specificity before publication. Travel and table guides that include rates, star ratings, chef names, or booking details are dated and reviewed on a regular cycle. When we update a piece, the article page shows the revision date and an editorial review line from The Banquet Desk.

We use the label Editorial review by The Banquet Desk as our default trust signal. We reserve Fact-checked by The Banquet Desk for articles where operational claims (Michelin status, hotel openings, fair dates, retail pricing, production figures, and similar) have been verified against named primary sources and documented internally before publication or update.

What We Verify

  • Michelin stars and guide listings, with the guide year cited in copy
  • Hotel openings, renovations, and published room rates when quoted
  • Restaurant status, chef leadership, and neighborhood context
  • Art fair dates, gallery participation figures, and institutional facts
  • Watch model names, maker history, and published retail pricing

Subjective judgment, taste, and first-person observation remain part of our voice. We do not remove opinion because it is opinion. We do remove or soften claims that cannot be supported or that could mislead readers about access, partnership, or current status.

Reader Responsibility

Luxury travel and dining change quickly. Before you book, confirm current prices, hours, availability, award status, and reservation policies directly with the venue or an authorized channel. A guide written in good faith can still go stale between review cycles.

Corrections

When we publish a material factual error, we correct the article and note the change at the bottom of the piece with the correction date. Immaterial clarifications may be made silently if they do not change the reader's understanding of the story.

To report an error, write to hello@atthebanquet.com with the article URL and the detail in question. We aim to respond within two business days.

Sponsored Content and Affiliates

Sponsored articles, newsletter placements, and brand collaborations are always labeled clearly and are produced to the same visual and prose standards as independent editorial. We do not publish sponsored content that masquerades as unattributed reporting.

If we use affiliate links, they are disclosed in the article or on the relevant page. Affiliate relationships do not determine which places, objects, or makers we cover independently.

Images

Editorial images are self-hosted, chosen for relevance to the story, and captioned in The Banquet's voice. Alt text stays literal for accessibility; captions may add mood or context. We do not use recognizable brand imagery to illustrate unrelated subjects, and we do not duplicate the same asset across unrelated articles.
