Kaikado

Family workshop and shop for handmade tinplate tea caddies, founded in 1875 and now led by sixth-generation craftsman Takahiro Yagi. Each caddy follows a long hand process designed for airtight storage; the slow-falling lid is the clearest demonstration in the store. The main shop is about five minutes from Keihan Kiyomizu-Gojo and typically open 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., closed Sunday, Monday and public holidays. A separate Kaikado Café operates near Keihan Shichijo; confirm both calendars before you walk between them.
