Tokyo
Tokyo is best treated as a set of neighborhoods rather than a single downtown: Ginza and Marunouchi for polished shopping and dining; Asakusa for temple streets and older shitamachi atmosphere; Shinjuku and Shibuya for transit hubs and night energy. Build each day inside one or two adjacent wards and let the JR Yamanote and metro lines do the long hops. Choose a hotel near a major station if the itinerary spans east and west; that single decision saves more time than any attraction shortcut.
